Rally driver

After schooling, he learned in his parents’ company, a Saab workshop in Hamburg, the profession of auto mechanic. He drove his first rally in 1966 with a Saab at the age of 18 years. In 1974 he moved to the camp of professional rally drivers. 1978 Kleint was as a VW factory driver with a VW Golf GTI 1600 winner of the so-called Estering Cup, the then unofficial German Rallycross Championship. In the same year he also took part in the FIARallycross European Championship. However, this use was canceled prematurely by VW Motorsport again, Kleint finished in 11th place in the overall standings and in sixth place in the touring car division. His greatest motorsport success was the year after winning the 1979 European Rally Championship, both on an Opel Kadett GT / E and in an Opel Ascona B, along with his co-driver Gunter Wanger, and also on Opel Ascona, finishing third in the Monte Rally Carlo 1981.Vintage 1948 (Driver)
